Oysters: the perfect aphrodisiac.
Unless, of course, you have no idea how to prepare them, and your date ends up shucking.
Which is why it’s vital to know your way around our delicious edible marine friends, and, coincidentally, why it’s extremely good news that some of London’s most adept seafood chefs from Bonnie Gull are hosting a series of masterclasses in their dinky, low lit Soho home.
Each event will showcase a different seafood product, with the first two focussing on oysters and crabs respectively. Taking place on the last Sunday of each month, they’ll be letting you behind the marble dining counter, giving you a chance to get hands on in their kitchen and have a go at blasting some fresh fish on their open grill. And by ‘have a go’, we mean, ‘receive some very careful instruction near the open flames’.
Under the masterful eye of their executive chef Christian Edwardson, and in a small class of just ten, you’ll learn to prep seafood like a pro thanks to the close-range cooking demonstrations and individual attention. After which, you’ll naturally sit down to enjoy the fruits of your labours in the form of a four course meal, all washed down with a handpicked bottle of wine.
Now that’s an aphrodisiac.
