The Disappearing Dining Club’s gotten itself into a hell of a state.
California.
And to be a little more specific, it’s gotten itself into the place’s extraordinary wines, and has created a series of supperclubs to show them off in all their eminently quaffable glory. Those supperclubs are going to take place every Wednesday night over the course of the next month in the DDC’s own extremely cosy North London gastro-hideaway, The Dartmouth Arms, where you’ll find excellent food, candlelit tables, and the cosy crackle of vinyl underscoring it all.
Your evening will kick off, as so many great evenings do, with a welcome West Coast Wine Cooler whose Californian Sauvignon is amped up with vodka, fresh lemon and sparkling soda. Suitably piqued and settled into your table, you’ll then start the dining proceedings with a crab & cucumber roll with avocado salsa & tomato consommé (paired with Marimar Estate Albariño); before moving onto a grilled & salted ox tongue with fermented spring greens (partnered with Wente Vineyards Morning Fog Chardonnay); then butter-poached chicken with smoked chicken sausage, truffle & carrot purêe (helped out by Kendall-Jackson Vintner’s Reserve Pinot Noir). It’s all then capped off with some poached rhubarb with oat crumble and a Californian Negroni.
That is unless you prefer the vegan options, which include crispy shiitake rolls, grilled asparagus, king oyster mushrooms with pickled cabbage, and lime & white chocolate cheesecake. In which case you can have all of those things. Or just some of them, it’s up to you, you can pick & choose.
The whole experience will be accompanied by a soundtrack of Californian soul, jazz, and sun-drenched rock & roll as played on the Dartmouth Arms’ very old fashioned (but also, just to be clear, very good) vinyl-only HiFi system. All of which will help get you into something of a state too…
