Christmas at LASSCO
There’s not usually much new in an antiques store.
But Bermondsey’s LASSCO warehouse have never been ones to heed convention – and so they’re bringing in a host of festive updates to their grotto of mismatched furniture, fixtures and fittings this month – namely, the late-night opening of their unique market of vintage gifts, and a brand-spanking new, utterly festive Christmas feast menu.
Here’s how it’s all going down:
THE CHRISTMAS MARKET
The warehouse itself, brimming with all manner of vintage bits and bobs, trinkets and bric-a-brac, will be going above and beyond for the festive season, opening late every Thursday throughout December until 9.30pm. Which is excellent news, because it means both an opportunity for you to do a little unusual gift shopping after work hours, and to do so with a specially designed festive cocktail in hand. THE FOOD & DRINK
Nestled within this salvage den is, of course, LASSCO Bar & Dining – a seasonally-influenced small plates restaurant and bar. And while their à la carte menu already satisfies most, if not all, your heart’s desires, they’re also introducing a special feasting menu for groups of six or more. It’s a five course banquet that makes the Ghost of Christmas Past look like a provider of mere canapés; overflowing with chestnut and sage porchetta; brown butter slow-roasted celeriac; and anchovy and garlic 12hr lamb shoulder. After which, you’ll be wanting to pull up – possibly a literal – pew at their reclaimed teak bar, and sink a couple of Hopped 75s (a French 75, but with hops) or a Tequila Old Fashioned.
Because if anyone’s got experience in updating old fashioned things, it’s LASSCO.
NOTE: LASSCO’s Christmas market lates will be running every Thursday throughout December, with the store staying open until 9.30pm every night. The restaurant and bar are open Thursday to Saturday from 6pm to 9.30pm.
