You’re about to become very rich.
You see, we can say with almost complete confidence that you are going to win a bet with your friends this week. And that bet is that you can take them to the best bar in Florence, Amsterdam and Paris in under an hour.
Of course, the success of this bet very much hangs on your attending Cocktails in the City, London’s pre-eminent pop up cocktail village that sees 25 of the world’s best bars come together in one vast, candlelit church in Marylebone. But you won’t need to say much to persuade them to visit this elusive trio of European bars – namely, the unfeasibly glamorous Atrium Bar from the Four Seasons in Florence; Amsterdam’s aristocratic craft cocktail den, House Bar; and the creative, critically lauded Café Moderne from Paris – all of which are gracing London for three nights only.
Of course, if that doesn’t convince them, there’s also the 22 other bars plucked from London itself. Amongst this illustrious shortlist you’ll find newcomers like the moody Eve Bar beneath Frog by Adam Handling and the newly reopened Hawksmoor Spitalfields bar; award-winning French cocktails from Coupette and Caribbean cocktails from Burlock; Blitz-era concoctions from Cahoots; Belle-Epoque era cocktails from The Gibson; and of course Artesian, which requires no further introduction other than officially being The World’s Best Bar. All of these will be housed in the grand, hallowed hall of One Marylebone, and each will be serving up entirely exclusive concoctions inspired by the theme, ‘Inspired by London’ – for a mere £7.50 a pop.
By this point you probably won’t even need to mention the cocktail making experience in the secret garden outside; the numerous garnish and spirit workshops; the interactive tasting tables for eclectic ingredients and liqueurs; or even the free drink you get on arrival.
In fact, you definitely won’t want to mention that last one, because as a recent bet-winner the drinks are probably on you…
