Dandelyan’s Botanical Suite | Experimental Pop Up Bar
Botanical sweets probably wouldn’t go down too well.
Botanical suites, however, definitely will.
You see the first one, maybe ever, is being put together by the people at award winning cocktail utopia Dandelyan in the gorgeous, Thames-hugging Mondrian Hotel. They’ve commandeered one of the Tom Dixon-designed suites, and will turn it into a lush, intimate tasting room complete with its own botanical terrace to soak up the sun.
That tasting room will exist for four weeks this summer, with each week being hosted by a different Dandelyan team member who’s chosen a booze-related concept close to their heart/tongue to explore. They’re going to be allowing just 8 guests in for each session, and over the course of an hour and a half, they’ll get to drink 4 cocktails that reflect that week’s chosen concept while their mixologist/host walks them through the chemistry, biology and history behind the drinks.
So what’s on the calendar?
Disco Lyan with Will Meredith (4-10 June)
Senior Bartender Will will be focusing on the Disco Era and how it affected the world of mixology. The session will focus on bringing those slightly clichéd cocktails up to Dandelyan standard, meaning you’ll get the chance to “drink a Sex on the Beach that’s actually good”.
Luxury in the Plant Kingdom with Enrico Gonzato (11-17 June)
A seasoned veteran behind lux-hotel bars, Enrico will explore “what luxury means in the plant kingdom”. Quite aside from royal family trees, that means he’ll literally be making drinks from botanicals worth more than their weight in gold.
Channelling Expertise with Jack Banks (18-24 June)
Senior barkeep Jack will be exploring ingredients, and how to properly get the most out of them – because sometimes, homemade and small batch isn’t necessarily what’s best…
H.M.S Lyan with Alex Lawrence (25-30 June)
Head bartender Alex will be blowing minds & tongues with his inventive, leftfield, and unique combinations of ingredients. Guests “will know every flavour that is put together but won’t understand why/how”.
NOTE: Dandelyan’s Botanical Suite will be open from June 4th-30th at the Mondrian Hotel. Tickets cost £55 and are available right HERE.
