Dominique Ansel Bakery Pie Night | Join the upper crust
As pastry chefs go, Dominique Ansel has a lot of fingers in a lot of pies.
Figuratively, of course.
Because after inventing the world’s most popular hybrid pastry, then opening bakeries in New York, LA, and London, he decided to launch a little event he called Pie Night. It’s naturally timed to coincide with the start of pie season (that’s ‘autumn’ to you) and it basically involves an evening with unlimited amounts of pie from one of the best pastry chefs on earth. For those lucky enough to get a ticket, that is.
The pies themselves come in 10 flavours, with both sweet and savoury varieties. Then include a few recipes from guest chefs (including The Ledbury’s Brett Graham, and royal wedding cake-maker Claire Ptak) and star a salted caramel apple; some double lemon meringue; Claire Ptak’s sour cherry pie; some Malaysian curried lamb shoulder pie, and half a dozen others.
Of course pie alone does not an evening make, so you’ll also get unlimited ice cream to go along with the sweeter slices, plus a sparkling apple cider cocktail (which they’ll top up for you throughout the night), some Chef’s Hot Chocolate, and a “surprise to take home” as well.
Tickets cost £38 all-in, and understandably tend to go quite quickly, but after learning their lesson from last year, this autumn they’re running four evenings split across two ‘sittings’, so hopefully you too should be able to literally eat all the pies.
You could even present your favourites in the form of some kind of chart…
NOTE: Dominique Ansel Bakery Pie Nights take place on 22nd, 23rd, 29th, and 30th October across two sittings each night (6:30pm-8:00pm; 8:30pm-10:00pm). Tickets cost £38, and go on sale at noon on the 9th October right HERE.
