If you’ve been feeling like your battery’s running low recently, this ought to energise ya.

It’s an outrageously fun new addition to London’s activity bars, which essentially drops you and your friends into a real-life version of an arcade game. It’s opening in Islington Square this June, and Nudge Members are getting in for an exclusive two-week soft launch, with 50% off tickets.

So, what exactly can you expect from ‘live, interactive arcade gaming’? Well, it’s a little bit like Immersive Gamebox in that instead of controlling an avatar on a screen, you are the avatar, moving around in real life. Only at Energize Games, instead of playing in one space that changes around you, you’ll make your way through a maze of 11 rooms. Each has been kitted out with some unique bits of tech – weight-sensitive floors, motion detectors, targets and more – which have been ingeniously combined to create simple-to-play, but heart-racingly thrilling mental and physical challenges.

Each room comes with multiple game options so you can tailor your own experience. You might test your general knowledge while shooting hoops, race to navigate a laser beam maze, clamber across a light-up climbing wall, or attempt to balance on a semi-sphere to control everyone’s favourite nonproprietary arcade character, MacPan. In one room, the walls even have eyes – and motion sensors will be watching to see if you make it to a hiding spot in time.

The difficulty level ramps up as you move through the experience, so you’ll want to make some wise decisions as to whether your team – of 2 to 5 players – is going to work in ‘Cooperative’ or ‘Competitive’ mode, where the winner takes all.
