Everyman Screen On The Canal

Things To Do

Everyman On The Canal

Squeezing Everyman into King’s Cross is no easy task.

So it’s unsurprising that the independent cinema is spilling outside this summer for an outdoor film festival. What is surprising, however, is that it’s completely free. Just beyond the fountains of Granary Square, they’ll be showing flicks on a screen across the canal, which you can enjoy while sprawled out on the astroturfed stadium seating on the riverbank.

This year’s schedule kicks off with Wimbledon season, with matches screening every afternoon (followed by two feature films in the evening). Then, once the champion’s been crowned, they’ll switch to showing four different flicks a day, starting at 1pm, 3pm, 5pm and 7.30pm.

As always, there’s a varied programme of cult classics (The Goonies, The Graduate, Cool Runnings) and more recent releases (Wonka, Bob Marley: One Love, Barbie) alongside kid-friendly screenings and the return of the Film Choice night, where the audience will vote for what gets screened.

And yes, it is genuinely all free – but seating is limited, so you’ll want to tip up a bit early to secure a space. Best bring a buddy that you can get to hog your seats while you pop over to converted airstream caravan bar, serving wine, beers, cocktails and more.

Something for everyone, then.

NOTE: Everyman On The Canal runs from 1st July – 18th August 2024. Everything’s free but seating’s unreserved, so get along early if you can – see the full programme here.
