Everyman Screen On The Canal

Things To Do

Everyman Presents: Screen on the Canal

Squeezing Everyman into King’s Cross is no easy task.

So it’s unsurprising that the independent cinema is spilling outside this summer for an outdoor film festival. What is surprising, however, is that it’s completely free. Just beyond the fountains of Granary Square, they’ll be showing flicks on a screen across the canal, which you can enjoy while sprawled out on the astroturfed stadium seating on the riverbank.

This year’s schedule is yet to be announced, but in previous years they’ve put together a varied programme of cult classics (The Goonies, The Italian Job, Dr. Strangelove) and more recent releases (Belfast, Cruella, Encanto). They’ll also be screening Wimbledon matches, staging live Q&As and ‘film-themed fitness classes’… the results of which you can immediately undo by ordering from the Everyman food & drink menu or popping to the bar in a converted airstream caravan serving wine, beers, cocktails and more.

Something for everyone, then.

NOTE: Everyman: Screen on the Canal runs from 22nd June – 6th August 2023. Everything’s free but seating’s unreserved, so get along early if you can – you can keep an eye out for the programme HERE.
