Frieze Sculpture 2022

Art is long, life is short.

Which is why you should hotfoot it along to the Frieze Sculpture exhibition 2022, now back for a tenth year at the English Gardens in Regent’s Park.

Held at the same time as the famous Frieze art fair, the aim is to transform the park into “a museum without walls” by filling the place with sculptures from some of the biggest names in modern art. It is, however, better than the famous art fair because:

1) It’s free. And

2) It comes with an interactive map and audio guide, so you can find out precisely why you’re looking at a stack of giant red pillows, and make appreciative murmurs while stroking your chin accordingly.

Artists on the 18-strong roster include this year include John Wood and Paul Harrison (showcasing their tongue-in-cheek but also quite philosophical park signs); Pablo Reinoso, who invites you to take a seat on his enormous metal trees; N. S. Harsha, whose bendy ladder signifies the unexpected paths life takes; and Ron Arad R.A., who’s created an interactive bronze pedestal where Rodin’s The Thinker has just stood up and left an imprint of his bum.

As art goes, it’s pretty cheeky.

NOTE: Frieze Sculpture 2022 runs until 13th November in the English Gardens at Regent’s Park. It’s free, and there’s no need to book ahead. You can find out more right HERE.
