At Home Farm.
It’s the answer to both the questions “what’s a great new festival that combines open-air, long table banquets with some intimate woodland gigs from fantastic musicians?” and also “where is that festival taking place?”.
The farm itself, aside from growing grains & cereal crops, also has a handy little side hustle going in glamping tents amongst its 150 acres of lush Elstree surroundings (it’s a ten minute cab from the end of the Jubilee Line). And last year, they decided to put on a series of ticketed feasts & performances dotted throughout the summer, roping in some top-shelf talent for both. It went down extremely well, and this year’s event is looking like all that and more.

Kicking off the season in May, the Woodfired Canteen will be setting up long tables in long grass, and stretching under dappled tree shade, then inviting in chefs like Sam & Sam Clarke (from Moro), Ixta Belfrage (Ottolenghi’s protege & rapidly rising star in her own right), Stevie Parle (from a bunch of great restaurants), and the team behind the excellent Native.
Then, heading into June & July, we’ll see the woodland stage hidden in a small, sheltered hollow taken up by the likes of Jade Bird, RY X, Rem Morris, and The Staves. You’ll also be happy to know that a two-course meal prepared by a Michelin trained chef Jean-Luc Sainlo is included in the ticket price. And if that’s somehow not your thing, you might have your fancy piqued by the Rogue Theatre troupe (they’re a Cornish outfit who specialise in open-air theatre), or the big top tent that’ll be hosting the all-new, glamorously silly show by Gifford Circus.
It’s not too far out to be inaccessible from London by either car, train, or as we mentioned, even the tube. But if you really want to make a night of it? You can pitch up to one of their elegant glamping tents with warm, comfy double beds.
