Battersea Power Station is bringing back its ice rink for another year.
But don’t worry, there isn’t a massive charge.
Although, strictly speaking it’s three ice rinks, all interconnected in a single space and centred around a 30ft Christmas tree. All told, they’re able to handle roughly 300 ice-gliding punters at a time making it, to use the correct technical terminology, f**king massive. And it’s surrounded by vintage fairground rides, live entertainment, mulled wine, and cosy igloos. Not too shabby.

And as for the cost? An adult ticket will set you back £12.50, which is slightly under the average for most other ice rinks in London. But it is nevertheless still a high quality affair – it’s all being operated by Jo Malone and the same folks who also run the rinks at Winter Wonderland and the much-missed one outside the Natural History Museum. Clearly, once you set up one ice rink, you end up setting up another, and another.
It’s a slippery slope.
