Battersea Power Station ice rink is here.
But don’t worry, there isn’t a massive charge.
It’s all part of the area’s massive, multi-billion-with-a-b pound redevelopment, which cumulated with a grand reopening on October 14th when Joe Public – for the first time ever – were able to wander round the former cathedral of current.
And to top it all off, they’ve cut the ribbon on the ice rink. Although, strictly speaking it’s three ice rinks, all interconnected in a single space and centred around a 30ft Christmas tree. All told, they’re able to handle roughly 300 ice-gliding punters at a time making it, to use the correct technical terminology, f**king massive. And it’s surrounded by vintage fairground rides, live entertainment, mulled wine, and cosy igloos. Not too shabby.
And as for the cost? An adult ticket will set you back £12, which is slightly under the average for central London. But it is nevertheless still a high quality affair – it’s all being operated by Jo Malone and the same folks who also run the rinks at the Natural History Museum and Winter Wonderland. Clearly, once you set up one ice rink, you end up setting up another, and another.
It’s a slippery slope.
NOTE: Glide at Battersea Power Station is now open. Tickets (£12 per adult) are available right now from the website here.
