It’s hard to believe that the fully-fledged, intimate boutique music festival known as HogSozzle started life as a simple get together with friends.
But trust us, that’s no porky.
Now in their 7th year, it’s become something ever so slightly bigger; a kaleidoscopic, glitter-showered, cosmic-disco themed jamboree playing host to over 120 music acts spread across 4 stages, for an intimate crowd of 1500 people.
And one pig.
The 70kg hog roast is at the centre of the festival, a complimentary stalwart thanks to its place at the heart of the festival’s origin story. This year it’s flanked by responsibly sourcing street food traders like the award-winning Fiyah Pizzeria, Mediterranean boxes from The Devil’s Pantry, non-alcoholic bevs from Bean There, Drunk That and more beans (this time baked) from Banging Beans.
Over the course of three days, you’ll also find a non-stop music line-up, ranging from house and techno to disco and funk. Headlining the main stage are Electric Swing Circus, a retro six-piece who mash up 20s swing with electro beats and synths. They’ll be accompanied by fellow vintage remixers Rumpsteppers, bluesy garage rock from Little Brother Eli, and Tuba Libres (who are everything you’re expecting, and more) – as well as a host of other DJ sets and live acts across the site.
Returning to the festival is the Paint Fight, a raucous, Holi-esque blur in the middle of a field, alongside a brand-new programme of activities, from arts and crafts to old-school games and contests, as well as roving storytellers, a short film festival, and something called “stand up philosophy”.
…If at any point you want to sit down, you Kant.
NOTE: HogSozzle takes place 26th-29th May in a Hertford field site. Tickets are available now and can be purchased for day entry (the site is 30 minutes from King’s Cross), or the whole (3 day/night) weekend. Click here to find out more.
