London Mezcal Week | 10th-16th September 2018
Mezcal isn’t known for being weak.
But this month, we’re getting a week that’s going to be very mezcal.
It’s all being organised by two of London’s preeminent mezcal enthusiasts, Thea Cumming (founder of Dangerous Don) and Melanie Symonds (founder of Quiquiriqui), and will involve succulent-booze-themed events all across London, celebrating traditional mezcal producers with talks, parties, pop up mezcalerias, and more. Here are some of the highlights:
Monday – an agave spirits blind tasting at temper City
Tuesday – a four-course, mezcal-paired Mexican feast from renowned chef Santiago Lastra;
Wednesday – a ten-course food and cocktail tasting menu at Cub;
Thursday – an art show & party combining Oaxacan art and Zapotec weaving with mezcal cocktails;
Friday & Saturday – A huge mezcal tasting festival at TT Liquor
A little more on that last one: this gathering is probably one of the largest that’s ever taken place in the UK, and will give you the chance to taste a bevy of different mezcals, and meet the people who produce them – some of whom have never brought their bottles over here before. Plus, there’ll be bespoke cocktails from Ojo Rojo, DJs, and special guests to be announced…
…and on top of all that, there’ll also be a host of bars and restaurants (including Santo Remedio, La Bodega Negra, Café Pacifico and Cocktail Trading Co.) who’ll be hosting events, tastings and special cocktails throughout the week, for you to navigate with the aid of your London Mezcal Week map.
Sounds like it’s worth a shot.
NOTE: London Mezcal Week will take place from 10th-16th September, across London. You can find out more, and get tickets for the various events, right HERE.
