London Podcast Festival 2019

London Podcast Festival 2019

Everyone loves some Serial in the morning…

…or The Guilty Feminist; or No Such Thing As A Fish; or My Dad Wrote A Porno (though really the latter’s best enjoyed after lunch).

Yes the humble podcast – which has surprisingly been around for over 15 years – has now cemented its position as a massive, global, unstoppable juggernaut that fills up the hearts and minds of millions each week with stories, lectures, jokes, monologues and endless conversations… all in a format that can be enjoyed while sitting on the tube, doing the washing up or skydiving.  Try doing any of those things while reading a book or watching a film.

And like everything that’s even mildly popular – from The Espresso Martini and cheese, to mud wrestling and tomatoes – The Podcast now has its very own festival, which returns to London this September featuring two weekends of (rapidly selling out) live podcasting from an exciting line-up of comedians, writers, commentators and activists.

London Podcast Festival

This year the carefully curated programme consists of both established and emerging names which includes… deep breath

…. The Guilty Feminist, who’s recording a series of shows here alongside some very special guests; George The Poet‘s mash up of music, spoken word and social commentary; an entertaining look at Brexit (sorry); embarrassing anecdotes; an award-winning book club; a show about the patriarchy by young women of colour; a nice chat about art with actor Russell Tovey; a comedy podcast about drag kings and dinosaurs; the findings of two comedians who watched the same film every week for a year; an improvised science fiction adventure; anonymous phone calls and a whole lot more (variously discussing grief, beef, and wrestling).

It’s a veritable smorgasbord of live podcasting. And if you book three or more shows, you’ll score a little discount.

So you can enlighten yourself…

…and not your wallet.

NOTE: The London Podcast Festival 2019 takes place from 6th-8th and 12th-15th September, in King’s Cross. Tickets have started to sell out for some shows already, so book ahead HERE.
