Helping you to sip into the spirit of things this Christmas are the folks behind Marylebone Gin, who are hosting a two-week festive pop-up bar on New Quebec Street, from the 3rd to the 15th of December.
It promises to be a botanical wonderland – much like, as it happens, their gin, which is infused with 13 different botanicals including chamomile, grapefruit and lime flower. It takes inspiration from Marylebone’s 18th century pleasure garden, which was intoxicating in its own uniquely beautiful way, and where people from all walks of life would regularly come together to indulge in a little light revelry.
The same can be said of the bar, where you’re encouraged to stop by with a group of friends and indulge in an array of gin-based cocktails, like the Winter Walk of cask aged Marylebone Gin, cinnamon, and bitters; or the Orion of New Marylebone Orange and Geranium gin with peach aperitif and citrus. Alternatively, if you’re keen to take your gin knowledge to the next level – they’ll also be hosting a variety of gin-based events.
THE EVENTS
Their ‘Gin At Home’ masterclasses for instance will get you up close and personal with an experienced mixologist, who will impart to you an abundance of knowledge about how to rustle up the best gin cocktails in the comfort of your own kitchen. There’ll be a number of in-depth talks, talking you through the history of gin complete with welcome cocktails and canapés; gin tastings with food-pairings from local gastropub The Grazing Goat; as well as a bottomless Bloody Mary brunch on Saturdays with Bloody Bens spices and food from Boxcar Butcher & Grill. Alternatively, after a couple of warm-up tipples at the bar, you could head for lunch or dinner at one of New Quebec Street’s many restaurants.
THE RESTAURANTS
Australian restaurant Daisy Green will be dishing up Christmas classics with an Aussie twist, whilst contemporary gastropubs The Grazing Goat and Boxcar Butcher & Grill have both designed set Christmas menus that will run throughout December. If you’re still on the lookout for somewhere to host your Christmas party, Boxcar Butcher & Grill are taking bookings for us to 30 people to enjoy a three-course set lunch, with cocktails and canapés.
