Missy Elliot | A Live Orchestral Rendition
Missy Elliot has always been pretty brassy.
Well, now it’s official. Because now she’s getting a live orchestral rendition in her honour.
Two decades since the release of her stunningly successful debut album Supa Dupa Fly, the folks over at Shoreditch nightclub XOYO have decided to Work It – and all of the best songs she’s released in the intervening 20 years – into an all-out orchestral rendition of the greatest hits that made her the best selling female rapper of all time.
It’ll take place for one day only, on May 17th, and will be hosted by Re:Imagine, who’ve built up an incredible reputation for events like this, in which they’ve enlisted the help of some of London’s leading classical musicians to put together ensembles including brass sections, rhythm sections, string quartets, vocalists and rappers. Previous subjects have raged all the way from Kanye to Daft Punk.
So if this sounds like your cup of tea, then go ahead…
…get your freak on.
NOTE: Missy Elliott: A 20th Anniversary Orchestral Rendition will take place on May 17th at XOYO. You can find out more, and book your tickets right HERE.
