Mortimer House Have Announced Their Guest Residencies for 2022

Mortimer House have announced their new lineup of guest chef residencies in their Living Room kitchen, for 2022.

It’s a small space, but they’ve got some big names.

In fact, since the Fitzrovia private members’ club decided to play host to guest chefs, they’ve helped to launch & lift the careers of several of the city’s most promising talents, including Luke Selby, Supa Ya Ramen, Mao Chow, Whyte Rushen, and more. And it probably has something to do with the fact that they’re open to the public, and not just club members.

Instead of the main restaurant downstairs, they all take place in the far more intimate Living Room & Den upstairs, boasting beautiful Art Deco fittings rounded out by mid-century furnishings. The kitchen isn’t huge, but it’s enough to fit the following lineup:

Tom Griffiths (25th & 26th January) – The founder of Flank, Griffiths will be using live fire to scorch BBQ beef short rib; and cook crab & lobster pappardelle for two with beef heart bottarga; wild mushroom dumplings with winter truffle; and butterscotch crème caramel (among may other dishes).

Poon’s (9th & 10th February) – Marking the Chinese year of the Tiger, the legendary team behind Chinatown’s Michelin Star winning Poon’s will be serving up Chinese hot pot, drunken chicken, braised beef flank with star anise, and more.

Marianna Leivaditaki (10th, 11th & 12th March) – Born & raised in Crete, Leivaditaki will be mining her native food culture (and the skills she picked up as head chef at Morito) to cook up seabass pastirma with grilled olives and samphire; Iberico pork souvlaki & pita bread; and olive oil & chocolate mousse tart.

Further afield, we’ll see:

Tom Cenci (April) – As head of food development for Stoney Street and 26 Grains, Ceni has developed some amazing food. Just check out his Insta page, and you’ll see.

Tom Zahir Browne, AKA Decatur (May) – Last year, Decatur absolutely blew up, putting together extraordinary Louisiana-style crawfish boils, gumbo, chargrilled oysters, and more, which everyone in the city suddenly realised was incredibly delicious.

George Williams, AKA @fedbygeorge (TBC) – Not only did this River Cafe chef create some excellent lockdown food last year, but he also managed to raise a huge amount of cash for charity while he did it.

Of course, on whichever night you were to visit, all of this will also be accompanied by some excellent cocktails & wines from the bar in Living Room.

You’ll feel right at home.
