My Dad Wrote A Porno At The Royal Festival Hall

‘Dad’ and ‘Porno’.

They’re two words that you’d probably prefer never to feature in a sentence together. Unleeeess we’re talking about the cult podcast My Dad Wrote a Porno, which, as it happens, we are. Because it’s coming live to The Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall this May.

It all started when actor, producer and director Jamie Morton discovered that his dad had written a porno. Of course by ‘discovered’ we mean his dad handed it to him at his sister’s birthday party one year. It was called Belinda Blinked, written under the glorious pseudonym Rocky Flintstone. (Clearly too much time watching cartoons with the kids.)

Anyways, rather than bury it (and himself) Jamie Morton decided to take it to the pub and read it to a couple of mates. Those mates were actor James Cooper and comedian/presenter Alice Levine who, a couple pints in, decided really there was only one thing to do….

Broadcast it to the entire world via a podcast.

As you can imagine it’s hilarious in all the wrong ways. It’s graphic, terribly written and, with that, amazing. Give it a listen and suddenly you’re one of those oddballs sniggering to themselves on the tube. And now you can be one of those oddballs sniggering to themselves in a festival hall. Except here you’ll be surrounded by a whole load of oddball friends.

The podcast is actually on season six now, but it’s still going strong. So strong in fact that the first set of shows sold out in seconds, meaning if you want to go you’re going to want to book fast.

All the My Dad Wrote A Porno gang will be there, promising a serious party atmosphere too.

Dad, porno, gang, party.

Another run of words we could probably do without.

NOTE: My Dad Wrote A Porno is coming live to The Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall this May 18th. Tickets are £37-£55 and can be booked here.
