New Ground | A coffee shop with a slide, in Selfridges
A slide has appeared in the window of Selfridges.
But don’t worry. We’ll get to the bottom of it.
It appears that it’s the work of the freshly brewed coffee shop, New Ground, that’s taken up residence on the department store’s ground floor (and within their hyper-fancy boutique area called The Corner Shop).
The slide is open to the public and completely free to use. If you go down it, you will be visible from the street however, so your heart-rate will be getting a triple hit of caffeine, altitude, and potential embarrassment. So they should wake you up one way or another.
As for the coffee? Well, New Ground seem to be a pretty decent outfit all-round. They’re an ethics-driven brand who hire ex-offenders in the hopes of giving them a little stability, the beans are all sustainably grown, and everything’s served in recyclable cups – in fact, any recycled in-store will be turned into Selfridges shopping bags.
The menu has 10 coffees, plus teas (triple mint!) and hot chocolates as well as a few sizeable pastries, and you can throw in an optional shot of CBD oil into any of them. But don’t dawdle – it’s only going to be around until February 9th.
Then it’s going to slide away…
NOTE: New Ground is going to be at The Corner Shop in Selfridges until February 9th. You can find out more at their Insta page right HERE.
