We know February is quite early into the new year, but we can pretty much guarantee that there’s nothing else quite like this happening in 2025.
Flavour&Some are a company that specialise in boundary-pushing dining experiences, and they’re about to bring one of them to Battersea Power Station for three nights at the very start of spring. It’s basically a massive supper club in a uniquely atmospheric space, with avant-garde performances set between courses of refined food that’s frequently served directly onto the table.
The company itself is run by its two founders: Adam Thompson and Eileih Muir. He’s a chef whose impressive CV includes stints at Noma & Sat Bains, as well as apparently “winning gold medals in both the Culinary World Cup 2021 & the Culinary Olympics 2023”, both of which are things we didn’t know existed, but are now ferociously proud of our performance in. She is a dance artist and director whose choreographic & performance credits include The Royal Opera House, Sadler’s Wells, The Roundhouse and The Bolshoi, which is an almost unimprovable list of iconic venues. And they’ve been doing this for a few years now, so you would hope they have the kinks ironed out.
What to expect from the evening? Well, it’s not entirely clear. But part of the fun seems to be the joy of not knowing what to expect. And based on all of their previous shows, it looks like it’ll involve a lot of very arty dancing and performance. The menu is kept under wraps, but previous events have involved dishes like scallop with crème fraîche & caviar; Herdwick lamb with celeriac & watercress; and rum-poached pears with salted caramel & spiced chocolate. A lot of which is poured directly onto the table.
It’ll all take place in the Art Deco fever dream that is Control Room A. It’s an industrial cathedral where 1930s opulence meets good ol’ mechanical power. The space is all about symmetry, polished surfaces, and vintage dials. Supperclub venues don’t get much better.
Of course, it’s worth pointing out that one person’s ‘boundary pushing’ is another person’s ‘wankey’, so this experience might not be everyone’s cup of tea – but for those who are intrigued, it’s worth noting that their previous events have been met with glowing reviews, both for the artistry and the food. So, if you’re up for something a little out of the ordinary, this might just be one for the books.
NOTE: Flavour&Some’s latest pop up will take place on February 28th & March 1st & 2nd. You can book your slot (£145+) at the ticketing website.
