Afternoon Tea

The Potion Room at Cutter & Squidge

Get ready to raise your cup and sorcerer.

Because Soho café-bakery Cutter & Squidge have united the quaint tradition of English afternoon tea with the occult, otherworldly manipulation of supernatural forces. That’s right – they’re inviting you to potions class, where you’ll variously perfect your skills in brewing alchemical concoctions; eating cake; and making elaborate, showy hand gestures.

You’ll make your way down to their subterranean dungeons, don a cloak and take your place for a two and a half hour class, where you’ll be introduced to the basics of potion-making from their resident potion master. As your eyes adjust to the shadowy surroundings, you’ll be able to sip on a swirling, iridescent welcome drink, the Galaxy Juice – combining the classic elements of hibiscus, passion fruit, and unicorn tear tea.

…Getting hold of that’s no easy tusk.

You’ll then go on to enjoy a lemon-infused potion from your personal smouldering cauldron as you tuck into classically English afternoon tea bites, like honey roast ham sandwiches, leek and potato pie, and Yorkshire pudding served with beef and horseradish.

Moving onto the sweet stuff, you’ll be presented with rock cakes, clotted cream and homemade jam; a bite-sized rendition of a knickerbocker glory; and of course their signature biskie – the delicious fusion of a cake and a cookie – plumped up with butterscotch filling. All of which you’ll be able to wash down with lashings of unusual loose-leaf tea, coffees, or pumpkin juice…

So don’t worry.

There won’t be any dry spells.

NOTE: The Potion Room at Cutter & Squidge runs daily. The experience lasts 2.5 hours and costs from £49.50 – you can book online HERE.
