Self care is everywhere.
It’s branded on posters, much discussed in podcasts, hyped up by celebrities and heck, written about on this very website.
With roots in ancient practices and moon cycles, self care can feel a little eye-roll-inducing. However, there is method in the madness as the team at Rebase Recovery are proving with its newly opened space, promising to combine social wellness with cutting-edge science.

So what’s the deal?
A far cry from hemp and knit your own yoghurt, the space is the first thing that will impress. It’s like being in a cave but one with exceptional interior design. Think terracotta walls, wood-slat panels and dim lighting. Housed in this lair of self care there’s all manner of kit, including Powercab Cryotherapy chambers, Full Spectrum infrared saunas and a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, which increases oxygen in your blood to help recovery from injury.
There’s also the Member’s Suite; a Dune-like, communal space with eight ice baths, a large traditional Finnish sauna and bucket showers. Even if you’re not a member, you can book a one-hour drop in (£65) and cold plunge, steam and drench yourself to your heart’s content.

While the services are impressive and the expertise backing them spans decades, at the core of Rebase Recovery is a very personal story. Six years ago, one of the founders, Alex, had a near-death experience. Following this, he embarked on a rigorous regimen to rebuild his health and by doing so, he dug into the science behind the cultural traditions held up around the world as the basis of good health.
So as much as we might raise our eyebrows at the thought of collective sweating and charging crystals, Rebase Recovery is proving self care really is how to build a healthy life from the ground up.
NOTE: Rebase Recovery is open 7am-9pm Monday to Friday, 8am-8pm Saturday & Sunday. One-hour drop in sessions to the Members’ Suite are £65. You can find out more, book an appointment and enquire about full membership on the Rebase Recovery website.
