Lara Croft hasn’t raided a tomb for a few years now.
You might be tempted to say her career is in ruins.
But fear not! For she’s about to get her very own large-scale immersive experience, right here in London.
It’s being put together by a company called Little Lion who also brought us The Crystal Maze, so they already have experience rescuing ancient, priceless relics. They’ve teamed up with video game publishers Square Enix, and found themselves 30 thousand square feet of space in Camden Market to use as a canvas for their immersive vision. And they have between now and next April to pull it all together.
So what can we expect come spring? Well, naturally details are a little thin on the ground, but they tell us teams of 8 each will join Lara herself to try and retrieve a stolen artefact, and hopefully save the world while doing it. Along the way you’ll “escape a sinking ship, explore the jungles of Costa Rica, discover an ancient tomb, work through environmental puzzles and battle a secret order”, thanks to a mix of large-scale sets and live actors.
The layout of the whole experience – based on nothing but this promotional art – appears to back this all up, with what looks like half a dozen separate zones, including climbing walls, lava fields, snowy tundra, jungle ruins, derelict shipping containers, and underwater caverns. Oh, and a zipline.
But the most important zone? The bar.
And you can be confident that they serve something very Old Fashioned.
NOTE: Tomb Raider: The Live Experience is set to open on April 1st. We’ll be back then with the full scoop. Tickets are on sale right now, and you can get them at the website right HERE.
