Stoke Newington’s wild swimming spot, West Reservoir, doesn’t usually open after hours.
That’s reserved for special occasions.
And it just so happens that:
1) One of those occasions is coming up, and
2) At time of writing, there are actually tickets available.
This is one of those ones you’ll want to tell all your friends about… after you’ve booked.
It’s taking place on 12th August from 6pm, at which point the day swimmers will pack up their togs and abandon the lake. You’ll then have the run of the reservoir for the next two hours, after which the jetty fronting the water will start buzzing with street food stalls and pop-up bars.
If you’ve not yet been down to West Reservoir, then rest assured it’s one of the loveliest outdoor swimming spots in London. Encircled by leafy woodland and overlooked by skyscrapers and a classic art deco building (once the old filter house), there are definitely worse spots to watch the sunset with a drink in hand. And those places won’t give you a limited edition hat, either.
So book in, take a dip, and dry off by the water’s edge while enjoying cocktails, beers, ciders, Indian bowl food and paper-thin pancakes.
It’s the one time you’re allowed to take a crêpe by the pool.
NOTE: Night at the Res takes place on 12th August, 6-11pm. You’ll need to book tickets (£25) here – select Night at the Res, then scroll along to select 12th August on the calendar.
