Things To Do

Go Exploring with Jamie Ramsay

Rude Health.

Turns out, it’s more than just swearing your way through a set of crunches.

Something that the You’re in Rude Health Week is setting out to prove – a seven-day supernova of old-school, call-of-the-wild-style activities. Rude Health are hosting everything from rough-and-ready pursuits like wild swimming in the Serpentine and paddle-boarding in Putney, to unusual craft classes like carving wooden cutlery and making natural toothpaste.

Which is a breath of fresh air.

Plus, we just happen to have a little something extra up our capacious and flowing sleeves…

You may recall the tale of an adventurous chap named Jamie Ramsay, who ran 17,000km over 600 days, from Vancouver to Buenos Aires. As you do.

Perhaps feeling the loneliness of a long-distance runner too keenly, he’s inviting you and two friends to join him for an explorers’ weekend in Wales. He’ll swing by in his campervan on Friday night and whisk you off to the scenic May Hill in Gloucestershire, where you’ll set up camp together. The next morning you’ll rise and shine to an off-road drive and a bracing morning run across the hills, popping over the border to Wales for wild swimming and a pub lunch before heading off on a walk and cooking up a slap-up meal by the campfire. And of course, for your easy Sunday morning, you’ll head over to Pen y Fan for a nice, gentle hike up the highest peak of the Brecon Beacons, before swimming in mountaintop ponds and walking past waterfalls.

Thinking about accepting the invitation?

Really, it’d be rude not to.
