Zoo Nights

If you ever go to the zoo and find their only animal is a dog…

…you’ll know it’s a shih tzu.

London’s Zoo, however, has an impressive 15,000+ animals to see, from pygmy hippos to Galapagos tortoises, including endangered species who benefit from the zoo’s conservation programmes. The only problem? Sometimes it can feel like there are 15,000 other visitors, too, and a lot of them can be quite… small and screamy.

Lucky, then, that they’re opening their doors after hours this summer to let you roam the zoo by twilight.

At these adults-only evenings, you’ll be able to see all the animals at your own pace (before they get tucked in at 9pm) while sampling cocktails from the pop up bars; brushing up on biology by dropping into talks and walking tours; conducting vital veterinary procedures on stuffed toys; snacking on street food; and sipping Champagne by the penguin pool.

Dotted around the zoo there’ll also be animal-themed challenges for a dose of light competition, and if you really want to take things up a notch, you can even book in to sleep over at one of the private hunting lodges by the lion enclosure.

No need to set an alarm, the roars should have you out of bed in no time…

NOTE: Zoo Nights run on Friday evenings from 9th June – 28th July 2023. You can find out more, and purchase tickets (£21.50) HERE.

CORRECTION: We previously showed a harpist playing by the penguin pool from previous years – sadly there will not be any harpists this year.
