The sheds of Primrose Hill once held horses awaiting passengers from Regent’s Park. Nowadays they’re full of far more relaxing pursuits.
Nestled in the heart of Primrose Hill, Cowshed is the kind of spa that understands you don’t always want the hushed, cucumber-water-and-panpipe-music experience. Instead, it offers a laid-back but deeply indulgent approach to self-care—somewhere between a high-end retreat and the kind of cosy living room you wish you had.
Originally created as the in-house spa for Soho House members, Cowshed has perfected the art of relaxed luxury. The Primrose Hill outpost, tucked away on Regent’s Park Road, is no exception. Step inside and you’ll find the signature rustic-chic aesthetic – exposed brick, soft lighting, plush armchairs, and old fashioned milk churns – alongside the kind of atmosphere that keeps things as unstuffy as they can get.
Treatments here go beyond the usual facials and massages (though those are, naturally, excellent). You can opt for everything from a CBD firming & lifting facial, to some tension-melting reflexology, a lava shell massage, and the ‘ultimate Cowshed manicure’. The therapists are highly skilled but refreshingly approachable, offering just the right amount of chat depending on whether you want to unwind in silence or swap skincare tips. And the fact that they have mini TVs at the manicure stations doesn’t hurt, either.
And unlike some spas, where post-treatment reality hits like a slap in the face, Cowshed encourages lingering. You’re welcome to lounge in the comfy communal area with a cup of herbal tea or fresh juice (or a glass of prosecco, if that’s more your speed).
It’s got seven treatment rooms downstairs, which means there’s usually space. You know, in times of a massage emergency.
NOTE: Cowshed Primrose Hill is open now, seven days a week. You can find out more, and book a treatment at the Cowshed website.
