If you’re wondering what to do while you’re pottering around at home…

…well, you can now potter at home.

East London pottery workshop Kana London are bringing their studio to you with a series of video classes and clay kit deliveries. Naturally, most people don’t have a pottery throwing wheel kicking about at home, so they’re focussing on what they specialise in – beautifully rustic, hand-shaped ceramics.

The boxes have been extremely popular since launching, with the basic tool kit already sold out. But the video sessions will include how to set up your own studio at home and create your own tools out of everyday household objects, so don’t let that put you off. And if you’re feeling really fancy, there are combo boxes on offer that’ll provide you not just with the clay and tools, but a little treat from another business local to Kana, including Earl of East candles and Tutto Wines.

Then, over the next few weeks, Kana founder Ana Kerin will be hosting her online workshops, talking you through the basics of hand-building to more advanced clay-working techniques. You can either follow the entire series as a course, or dip in and out and experiment on your own. And once the lockdown’s lifted, you’ll be able to take your creations into the studio to have them fired and glazed for posterity.
