Big Rooftop Tea & Golf Party with Bompas & Parr | Selfridges
Bompas & Parr: you know them.
Whether you’ve heard of their experiments in the world of synaesthesia; tasted their architectural jelly; tried their Wonka-inspired flavour-changing chewing gum or inhaled their Gin and Tonic mist, one thing – beyond all else – is sure.
They’re pretty weird.
As part of Selfridges’ Big British Bang – an “all encompassing creative homage to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics” – Bompass and Parr have transformed the shop’s rooftop into a 9-hole, cake-based, crazy golf course that’ll be open from 12 noon until 7pm throughout the summer for their newest experiment: the Big Rooftop Tea & Golf Party.
Odd, yes.
But they’re not the first to do it, other than the “obstacles made of cake” bit. In the 1930s the roof of Selfridges was a popular spot for taking a post-shopping stroll, hosting – at various times – a golf course, cafes and even an all-girl gun club…
There’s also an organic Daylesford tea-shop up there (open until 10pm daily) serving the highest high tea on Oxford Street – “with a twist” – as well as evening drinks and dinner.
NOTE: Tickets cost £6 and, though they’re being released in stages, will go fast: you can get them HERE.
