Red Bull have taken the very best parts of Escape to Victory and the cinematic classic Step Up 2: The Streets, and come up with a brilliant idea.
And no, it’s not the story of a rebellious Michael Caine intent on becoming a dancer and forming a troupe of misfit performers in a prisoner of war camp.
It’s a dance off. But with football.
It’s called Red Bull Street Style, and it’s a global freestyle footie tournament. Now in its 8th year, it’s finally coming to the UK, and where better to pit the best international talent against each other than in the 360-degree amphitheatre that is Camden’s Roundhouse.
Athletes from 40 different countries have made it through rigorous qualifiers to get to this point; and you’ll be able to watch the best of the best battle it out head-to-head in an intense contest of skill, technique, style and originality. We’re literally talking spinning-a-football-on-their-foot-as-they-do-handstands kind of thing here.
The confirmed talent this year already includes defending champion Andrew Henderson, who has now been national titleholder 5 – count it, 5 – times, and won the 2014 World Freestyle Final in Brazil, as well as Liv Cooke, the UK’s most promising new freestyler at just 17.

NOTE: The final qualifying round and World Final of Red Bull Street Style will be taking place at The Roundhouse in Camden on the 7th and 8th November respectively, kicking off at 8pm. Tickets cost £10-£15 and are available HERE.
