Storyville, The Nightjar @ Factory 7 | Shoreditch
They say you are what you eat.
Which is weird, because you probably can’t remember the last time you ate a massive legend.
This interesting observation goes a long way toward proving that your iconic status is in fact much less a question of what you eat and, really, far more a question of what you do.
You know, fun activities like regularly outshining your colleagues; reserving tables at restaurants that don’t exist yet; helping old ladies across the road, and travelling back in time.
Regarding that last one… we’ve pencilled your next time warp in for Saturday, 11th August 2012.
You’ll be heading to Storyville in New Orleans, circa 1905.
An extremely naughty district, Storyville was established in 1897 for the sole purpose of limiting prostitution to one area of town. But naturally where prostitution went, new bars; jazz; debauchery and unparalleled quantities of fun followed…
Here you’ll sip on the Nightjar’s classic New Orleans cocktails, prop up the Enigma Absinthe bar (before probably falling off it) and enjoy New Orleans gastronomic delicacies like Gumbo and Jambalaya.
Enveloped by “meticulous set design and big production values” plus fast-stepping dancers and interactive performers, you’ll be led on a musical journey from early ragtime numbers and brass band parades to the stomping sounds of Professor Longhair and Fats Waller.
Just remember: stripey tights in Storyville means only one thing…. So you’d better buy some.
NOTE: Storyville, hosted by The Nightjar, hits Factory 7 on 11th August from 7pm – 4am. Fancy dress encouraged… Tickets are available HERE.
PS. Props to Nudge reader Dominic “The Joke Machine” Emery. What a hoot he is.
