Through The Shutters | Alternative Christmas Party
Christmas parties.
We’ve all been there, done that, forgotten exactly what we’ve been and done and had to piece it together using social media, uber receipts and a mystery bag of sprouts the next day.
So this year, you’d be forgiven for wanting something a little different. You’d be forgiven, for example, if you were to find yourself dreaming of a Ronnie Scott-style festive feast night in a turn of the century warehouse, now used as a film and photography studio.
Because, my friend, if you head to the Old Joinery in December, you can expect exactly that.
On arrival, you’ll be handed a Christmas cocktail specially designed by the in-house mixologist. Then, as you navigate your way through boughs of fairy lights, vintage photography lamps and old props from shoots, you’ll discover a set of long communal tables in an atmospheric, dimly lit corner, which is where you’ll be sitting down to a three course, festive Mediterranean meal.
This means dishes like chicken liver pate with crusty sourdough, warming slow-cooked shoulder of lamb, with hazelnut, apricot and herb tabbouleh, and wintry beetroot slaw, all cooked up by the Brixton-based caterers Kitchen Party.
Throughout all this, the house band, The Debt Collective, will be keeping spirits high with a set list of jazz, blues and swing, and, after a spot of pudding, the tables will get pushed back to leave the floor open for dancing the night away.
After which, we imagine, you’ll be completely shuttered.
NOTE: Through The Shutters will be taking place on the 2nd and 16th December at The Old Joinery in Greenwich. Tickets are £55 pp and can be purchased online HERE.
