amie wine studio | Part bar, part wine shop, and part gallery in Eccleston Yards
amie wine studio was supposed to be a pop-up.
But people ended up enjoying it so much, they soon realised that they couldn’t put the cork back in. So the wine kept flowing and now, thankfully, it’s become permanent.
You’ll find it in the secluded, stylishly zhuzhed-up courtyard that is Eccleston Yards, tucked away behind Victoria Station, where it occupies a beautifully understated space that’s part bar, part wine shop, and part gallery. Frankly, if you’re looking to pair up the warmer weather with a nice glass of a rosé, there aren’t many better places to do it.
Although the grapes are French, amie is actually a London-based operation, the work of a wine-loving couple, with the support from a few friends (hence the name) who decided to create a drinkable rosé together. And thankfully, they didn’t bottle it. Well, they did but, you know, in a good way. It’s all vegan, and they’ve added to their original run of rosé with an organic number, a fruity red (Carignan), some refreshing whites (Sauvignan Blanc & Chardonnay), and a delicately sparkling Crémant De Limoux. Umm-ing and ahh-ing over what to get? Just try them all – their ‘taste of amie’ flight includes all five still wines.
The space itself is petite but beautiful, spilling out onto the courtyard with its pale wooden furnishings, and an appropriately rosé-pink set of stairs that leads up to an intimate little mezzanine floor overlooking it all. And its white walls have been livened up by a smattering of artworks, all of which come from from Art for Charity Collective’s community of artists, and all of which are for sale (with 10% going to amie’s charity partner, charity: water). And be warned, they’ll start to look all the more temping after your second or third glass.
And aside from the grape hooch? They’re also hosting a few events in the space across the year, currently featuring a Bottomless Brunch series on selected Saturdays with chefs like Liv Burt (formerly Claridge’s), and recipe guru Georgia Hearn.
Expect more than just a nice toast.
