Letters Live 2016

Letters Live 2016 | Covent Garden

Dear Sir/Madam,

As you read this electronic letter, we would humbly request that you imagine the rest of it being spoken aloud by your favourite of the following people:

Benedict Cumberbatch, Gillian Anderson, Sir Ian McKellen, Jarvis Cocker, John Bishop, Jude Law, Mariella Frostrup, Matt Berry, Meera Syal, Caitlin Moran, Dominic West, John Bishop, Olivia Colman, Russell Brand, Kylie Minogue.

Ahem. Can you hear me at the back?

Letters Live – the theatrical realisation of the famous books Letters of Note (the bestselling anthology compiled by Shaun Usher) and To The Letter by Simon Garfield – is heading back to the stunning Freemasons’ Hall in Covent Garden from the 4th – 8th October, following its sell-out run there this March. Head along and you’ll find a surprise selection of the golden-voiced luminaries listed above reading out some very witty – and some very important – letters, including Virginia Woolf’s heart-breaking suicide note; the recipe for drop scones sent by Queen Elizabeth II to President Eisenhower; a remarkable job application from Leonardo da Vinci; Richard Burton’s parting words to Elizabeth Taylor at the end of their tempestuous marriage; and Gandhi’s appeal to Hitler for calm on the eve of World War II.

Each evening’s line up is a surprise. However irrespective of who ends up performing on the night that you attend, you’ll be guaranteed a night that’s both entertaining and heart-breaking in equal measure.

Yours lovingly,

The Nudge.

NOTE: Letters Live 2016 runs from 4th to 8th October. Tickets are now on sale HERE.
