Matriarca

This concerns a very special kind of members’ club.

The kind that gives you access to highly sought after, exclusive, premium Portuguese wines & ports from Symington Family Estates, among many other things. They’ve been producing fine wines & ports there (in the wine-soaked regions of the Douro, Alentejo, and Vinho Verde) for the past 140 years, and through five generations of the Symington family itself. So, they kind of know what they’re doing.

Now they’ve created an exclusive members club called Matriarca, named in honour of the family’s original matriarch in Portugal, Beatriz, who married the first Symington to live in Porto shortly after they arrived in 1882. It was a good move. She loved to share great wine with people, and that tradition continues with Matriarca.

So what can you expect behind the digital velvet rope? Well, for one you’ll get a curated selection of six premium wines & ports from the Symington family’s portfolio twice a year, as well as access to a private online wine shop (with its own special offers & new releases), and an invite to regular exclusive events & wine tastings both here and in Portugal. Oh, and if you happen to head down to Portugal, you’ll also get discounts & benefits at the Symington family’s restaurants, cellars, and wineries, as well as a selection of their friends’ own establishments.

In fact, Matriarca has already been opened in Portugal, back in October – it was unveiled with a private visit and lunch at one of the Symington family vineyard estates in the stunning Douro Valley. Now that it’s headed to the UK, they’re offering founding memberships to the first 100 people to sign up.

So be quick, or you’ll be left with sour grapes.

NOTE: Membership to Matriarca (£750 per year) is available now, with the first 100 people to sign up getting founding memberships. Find out more at the website right here.
