EVE

Pancake towers. Live music. Unlimited cocktails. This Eve is tempting you with a lot more than an apple…

It’s a gorgeously stylish restaurant tucked below the Ember Locke hotel in Kensington, which aside from offering a beautiful bar, space for coworking and an all-day menu, now boasts one of London’s best bottomless brunches, accompanied by a live soundtrack of Motown and soul.

It’s all sprawled across the ground floor of the hotel’s revamped Edwardian mansion block. And like the rooms upstairs, the décor is a striking maximalist blend of curving velvet banquettes, chequered tiling, fringed lampshades and a small jungle’s worth of plants dotted about.

The food, meanwhile, comes with great pedigree: executive chef Talia Prince cut her teeth at fine dining institutions Le Gavroche and The Fat Duck, before striking out on her own with a residency at Soho House White City. Now she’s got the reins on a fully fledged restaurant, where she draws on the cuisine of the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean for inspiration.

Ordinarily that encompasses dishes like ras el hanout lamb with baba ganoush & salted labneh, hearty fattoush salads, and zhoug-spiced stonebass with smoked tomato chickpeas. But for the new brunch menu, she’s really pushing the boat out.

You’ll start with freshly baked allspice tulumba pastries and a honeyed bowl of granola topped with tea-soaked fruits and date molasses. For mains, there’s a fried chicken burger with zhoug mayo; shakshuka served with za’atar flatbread, and eggs benedict topping a savoury take on kunefe (a Turkish spun pastry layered with cheese).

And for the grand finale? This towering stack of cardamom pancakes will be ceremoniously brought to your table, with a jug of hot chocolate sauce to pour liberally over this edible game of jenga. Of course, that might prove more challenging than it looks after you’ve been sampling the trio of bottomless cocktails (mimosas, bellinis and BMs) that you can tack on for £20.

Sounds like paradise.
