Drunken butlers.
They work for tips-y.
And you can now find one firmly grounded in Clerkenwell. The Drunken Butler is the first restaurant from chef Yuma Hashemi, who’s worked in kitchens in half a dozen countries, including the US, Sweden, Portugal, France, Germany, and more. He’s been around the globe acquiring international culinary skills, and now he’s giving Londoners the opportunity to have a taste of Persia.

So, what can you expect? Well, most definitely some Persian classics like Tahdig, which if you haven’t had the pleasure of tasting, is saffron infused rice with ever-so-slightly crispy edges served alongside a selection of nourishing and decadent stews and barbecued chicken.
And the name? It comes from a ’60s British comedy sketch traditionally shown every New Years in Germany called “Dinner for One”.
Which, given that this place serves 30, is as far as that influence goes.
NOTE: The Drunken Butler is open for dinner Tuesday-Saturday, plus Saturday lunch. The tasting menu costs £95 with wine-pairing for an additional £95. You can reserve a table and find out more on their website HERE.
