This autumn, the Jazz Café‘s putting its favourite artists out to pasture.
Specifically, the lush landscape of Camberwell’s Burgess Park, where the iconic live music venue will be staging its first ever outdoor festival.
Taking place on 15th September, it’ll be a day-long extravaganza featuring live performances across four stages. And just like the venue itself, it’ll bring together an eclectic line-up of artists across a whole range of genres, in a celebration of the Jazz Café’s storied 30 year history.
The headline acts, appearing on a ‘grand arena-style stage’ at the festival’s heart, are set to include the celebrated Nils Frahm with his signature blend of classical influences and electronica, and ELIZA (formerly Eliza Doolittle), who debuted her shift from pop to R’n’B to a sold out audience at Jazz Café back in 2018. Over on the In The Round Dance stage you can catch DJs like Gilles Peterson playing to a crowd in 360º, while The Plant Room will host acts like Earl Sweatshirt in the thick of an urban jungle.
Joining them, you’ve got the likes of Crazy P (fresh off the back of a sell-out residency at the Jazz Café); South London RnB artist Ojerime; Girls Can’t DJ founder Jordss; and Ibrahim Ferrer Jr, who’ll be channelling the music of his dad’s group, the legendary Buena Vista Social Club, with the help of a live orchestra.
Being an all-day affair, there’ll be food trucks and pop-up bars to keep your dancing battery well-charged, and it’s worth knowing that the VIP tickets promise close-up access to the stages for the best view of the performers.
Everyone else will just have to look pasture.
