St Paul’s Cathedral may be lovely to look at, but it’s not quite as exciting to listen to.
Which is why the people at Madison, a sleek rooftop cocktail bar & restaurant overlooking the iconic dome itself, have decided to bring back Unplugged, a series of acoustic concerts taking place every other Tuesday over the summer.
Everything kicks off on Tuesday 27th July with a performance by YOUNGR who, if you don’t know him, has racked up over 100 million streams and played over 160 shows in 45 countries including sold-out tours across Europe & North America… which should make you question quite why you don’t know him. He’s a fantastic live performer, and can play virtually any instrument you throw at him. In fact, his one-man acts are what he specialises in.
The rest of the lineup is under wraps at the moment, but it’s going to be a mixture of both emerging & breakthrough acts. And whoever ends up on the stage will also – thank god – have a dance floor to fill right in front of them, thanks to Madison’s expansive terrace.
And, this being a restaurant, they’ve got a special set menu (x2 courses for £39, x3 courses for £45) loaded with the likes of buratta & heirloom tomato salad; stone bass & shrimp ceviche; a summery linguine primavera; and a whole list of steaks scorched on their Josper grill. Then there’s the cocktail offering, which includes an Instagram-baiting St Paul’s Sunset, thatu comes with vodka, black cherry & red wine liqueur, pineapple tepache, and an actual edible picture of the cathedral itself floating on the foam.
Turn’s out, St Paul’s is actually tastes quite nice too.
NOTE: Unplugged At Madison relaunches on Tuesday 27th July with a performance by YOUNGR. You can find out more, and reserve a table (all bookings will have a £10 entertainment charge per person) at their website right HERE.
