Bar Kick

Before arriving at Bar Kick, it’s important to have a game plan.

First, you want to ease into proceedings with a gentle warm-up. We’d advise a couple of stretches – careful of any dodgy hamstrings and considerate of passers-by as you limber up into a round of lunges. Next, check your eyes are on the ball as you negotiate your way around Old Street roundabout.

On the approach to Bar Kick, this is your chance to break into a light jog — particularly helpful if you’re running behind schedule.

By this point, you and your teammates have gathered at the entrance. It can be busy on game days so make sure your line-up is present and correct before venturing inside.

You enter the bar and take in the atmosphere. It might be a fraction of the sensation of emerging onto your home ground, crowds up on their feet and cheering, but to be fair, the football’s a fraction of the size here too.

Welcome to the London home of foosball.

Bar Kick - London Activity Bars

The pre-match prep is thirsty work so choose your drink wisely: Bar Kick specialises in quenching draught ciders, ales and lagers but there are plenty of hydrating house cocktails and spritz on offer too.

As a tactical move, you booked a table in advance and you’re chuffed you did, because the place is now packed and it’s every woman/man for themselves as the first whistle blows. Starting at £6, you’ve got either 30 minutes or a full hour to obliterate your companions on championship-quality tables dotted over the bar’s two floors.

At half-time, you deliberate over the food menu. It’s important to fuel yourself sufficiently and Bar Kick’s signature burgers are just the thing to keep you sustained. There’s the Smash – a classic double beef smash patties, double dirty cheese, onions, pickles, secret sauce – or the Chicken Ramen – crispy fried chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, sriracha ketchup, aioli. If the excitement and nerves of the game are too much, boost team morale by ordering a round of loaded fries for the table, with bacon, crispy shallots, spicy mayo and hot sauce.

It’s got a real kick.
