Drinking on rooftops (as we’ve established) is just better than drinking on not-rooftops.
Maybe it’s the altitude going to your head.
Well, this multistorey carpark rooftop on top of the iconic BBC Television Centre in White City, 100 feet above the West London skyline, is the perfect place to test the theory – because it’s currently gearing up for the return of its summer incarnation.
Boasting the probably uncontested – but no less impressive – title of Europe’s largest temporary pergola, it’ll be decked out this year to recreate a summer in The Hamptons, with whitewashed wood, swaying palm trees and your run-of-the-mill thirteen-seater day beds.
As always, alongside the two bars will be some of London’s finest foodies, which this season include:
Breddos Tacos – who opened their first restaurant last year to great acclaim;
Patty & Bun – the Pergola stalwarts serving up burgers with fresh seasonal ingredients;
8 Hoxton Square – the second restaurant from the founders of 10 Greek Street; and
Salt ‘n’ Sauce – a chippie spin-off from the Bonnie Gull gang.
… All of which will go directly to your mouth.
NOTE: Pergola on the Roof’s summer edition is now open, and will run Wed-Sat for 22 weeks. You can make a reservation on their website HERE but they do also take walk-ins, and they’re also opening Pergola Paddington on 24th May.
