It can be a real struggle for budding restaurateurs to open permanent ventures these days, unless they’re made of dough…
Which, coincidentally, these folks literally are. Made of Dough are pop up pizzaiolos who, after two years of dragging a wood-fired oven around the back of a Land Rover and serving up slices in their Pop Brixton shipping container, have snapped up a bona fide, bricks and mortar set up on Peckham’s Bellenden Road.
It’s a gorgeously airy space, with the glimmering mosaic-tiled ovens and open kitchen taking pride of place in the centre of the set up. There’s a marble dining counter stretching round that kitchen, for front row seats, as well as a smattering of al fresco tables in their suntrap of a back garden.
As for the grub, well, you’ll find the same pizzas that saw them crowned London Pizza Champions, made of dough (eh) that’s undergone a 60 hour fermentation process, with seasonal veg and meaty toppings courtesy of a collaboration with local butchers, Flock & Herd. Those toppings take the form of chorizo and piquillo peppers; lamb merguez sausage, broccoli, red onion and rosemary; and portobello mushrooms, truffle oil, parmesan and thyme – and you can score aioli or scotch-bonnet dipping sauces to polish off the crusts.
Half price pizzas every Monday mean that you can explore a little more of the drinks menu, stacked with Italian cocktails like the Negroni Spagliato (souped up with prosecco), Espresso Martinis, and gelato milkshakes made with bourbon and Jackpot Mother****ing Peanut Butter…
Trust us, you won’t want to wash your mouth out.
NOTE: Made of Dough is open all week for both lunch and dinner. You can find out more and reserve a table on their website HERE.
