Giant Steps | Music & Food Pop Up
Sadly, it’s not a freakishly large tribute band.
But it will still bring you an equal amount of musical joy. You see, GS is in fact a collaboration between Brilliant Corners (the Dalston bar/resto) and the Analogue Foundation (international supporters of analogue sound & processes), and it’ll be taking up residence in Hackney Wick this summer for a series of awesome parties.
It’ll all be taking place from the end of May until September in Swan Wharf; a 20,000 square ft. canal-side Victorian warehouse complex in Hackney Wick. There, they’ll be setting up a huge indoor music venue (filled with verdant tropical foliage & huge pendant lights), a 500-person waterside terrace to host host live jazz performances, several pop up restaurants, a bar, and an outdoor cinema. Here’s how it all breaks down:
You can expect a rotation of chefs and restaurants, who’ll all be serving a BBQ menu on the terrace each weekend. Things kick off with Brilliant Corners themselves, before moving onto excellent Middle Eastern outfit Morito, and then onto the superb team at Brawn.
Brilliant Corners will run the bar, serving natural wines (including a few amber-coloured ‘skin contact’ numbers), craft beer and cocktails – expect everything from a White Negroni to a Mezcal Margarita.
Outside during the day there will be live jazz performances on the terrace, then inside there’ll be DJ-led parties all night. In keeping with their analogue-driven principles, the equipment will be a mix of new and vintage, with some of the speaker systems having been made over 60 years ago. But don’t worry…
…they don’t sound that old.
NOTE: Giant Steps runs from May 26th until 19th September. You can find out more, and check out the lineup for both food & music at their website right HERE.
