Jimmy’s Lodge | Riverside Snowglobes

Riverside snow globes.
Apparently, London just can’t shake them.
And this year, the ones at Jimmy’s Lodge occupying a small fairy-lit spot on the Southbank have been custom made from real glass. Granted, they may not be as picturesque as the originals, but luckily those glass sides mean you have an even better view over the river. They’re part of the whole Jimmy’s Lodge pop up which, all in all, packs in:
A FONDUE RESTAURANT
Quite literally building on his summer BBQ residency, the rooftop’s been converted into a fully-covered, cosy pop up chalet called The Refuge. It comes complete with views across the river and London skyline beyond, rustic wood-panelled walls, twinkling tea lights at every table and an almighty fondue menu, including charcuterie from Jimmy’s father in Spain; sourdough baguettes; steak cooked to your preference on a hot stone; and a whole baked Mont d’Or. It’s all capped off with a pear poached in mulled wine.
Of course if you’re after a more private party, you can enjoy that feast in one of the dining igloos perched on the promenade outside. Planted beneath festoon-lit trees and overlooking the Thames, they’re yours for the entire evening, giving you plenty of time to pretend to everyone outside that you’re just a very life-like snowglobe. And you can get that fondue in here, too.
HOT COCKTAILS & STREET FOOD
Finally, there’s a more relaxed, walk-in, covered area where you’ll be able to spontaneously tuck into takeaway bites like raclette burgers, wild boar hot dogs and truffle-loaded fries on a heated terrace. And, not ones to do things by halves, the bar here serves up a menu of hot cocktails.
Which is pretty cool of them.
NOTE: Jimmy’s Lodge is open until 5th January – the igloos (min spend £600) and restaurant tables (£35-45pp) are bookable right now, right here.
