We’re about to join London’s underground party scene.
Because we’re throwing a big ol’ Nudge Member shindig in the newly relaunched subterranean cocktail bar hidden below Hawksmoor Spitalfields.
If you haven’t had the pleasure of going – and it very much is a pleasure, the place has won multiple awards, and was one of the pioneering London bars to lead the cocktail revolution that’s happened over the past couple of decades – well, this is your lucky day, because as part of the relaunch the place is closing to the public and becoming an events-only space. But this event you are cordially invited to.
It’s all going down on the 7th of December, and your ticket (£20) will net you a couple of welcome cocktails, plus some canapés, and music from a live DJ. Head downstairs into its clandestine & intimate space, and you’ll find a gorgeous little speakeasy filled with glazed white tiles, low ceilings and lower lighting (courtesy of the golden glow cast by vintage lamps), and leather-seated alcoves all overlooked by a gleaming copper bar.
Your complimentary welcome drinks will come courtesy of East London Liquor Company including a classic negroni as well as a Hawksmoor Moscow Mule. After that you’ll be able to choose freely from their regular bar menu, which includes the likes of fruity Cantaloupe Bellinis, refreshing Lychee Martinis (with vanilla vodka, lychee & lemon), complex Avalon Highballs (with whiskey, apple, and tarragon soda), and a Fuller Fat Old Fashioned that involves salted brown butter & tonka bean.
The welcome canapés circulating for the first hour will include ox cheek nuggets; mini Hawksmoor burgers; coronation cauliflower; and old spot belly rib skewers… but if you fancy having something a little more substantial then there’ll be a menu of nibbles available to purchase on the night, spanning the likes of Mac & cheese, maple bacon, beef dripping chips, and maple-glazed ‘cows in blankets’.
And the music that’ll be underscoring this whole experience? Will be courtesy of DJ Fe-Mel, whose style effortlessly blends uplifting electronic beats with Afro & tropical influences, sometimes throwing in a little contemporary disco & funk, too…
…she puts a new spin on them.
