Welcome to Wineyard London, where every pour decision is a good one.
It’s a new independent, and inclusive wine market that introduced itself to the world with a remarkably good debut event this September, filling the gorgeous Round Chapel in Clapton with a stellar selection of planet-spanning wines for people to sip, savour, sniff, swirl, and shop. And now it’s returning for a festive edition on Sunday 10th December, in which your ticket (£17.50) will net you a fancy tote bag, a GoVino glass and five tasting tokens.
So, what can you expect? Well the Round Chapel will be absolutely filled with wine producers & importers from across the globe (including the likes of Renegade Urban Winery, Uncharted, Bobo Wines, Candour, The Modest Merchant, etc.). You can take your glass, chat to the producers, and use your tasting tokens to sample as you please, then buy anything that you particularly like.
To bolster the bottles (and the festive vibes) there’ll also be some mulled wine, mulled cider, and a selection of non-alcoholic drinks courtesy of Punchy, as well as food from the stellar Trullo (a seasonally focused Italian restaurant), Hai Café (a family-owned Vietnamese restaurant), and La Bouche (an iconic deli on Broadway Market), plus a couple of other surprise guests.
And then, just to round it all out, there’ll be a whole roster of wine talks too, rolling throughout the entire day, and spanning such grape-friendly topics as ‘Learn The Art of Blind Tasting’ and ‘The Perfect Christmas Wine Pairing’… although the highlight may well be hearing how one man – WSET wine educator Sam Povey – is attempting to trade his way up from a bottle of Yellow Tail Shiraz, all the way to one of the world’s most expensive wines, a bottle of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
It’s a grape story.
