Back In 5 Minutes | Brick Lane Restaurant
UNFORTUNATELY, BACK IN 5 MINUTES IS NOW CLOSED
It’s time to take our relationship to the next level.
But for that to happen we’ll need to be completely open and honest with each other, which can only begin with each of us purging ourselves of our deepest, darkest secrets.
We’ll go first.
Basically we’ve been enjoying a protracted affair with Back In 5 Minutes, a restaurant pertinently hidden down some stairs at the back of a clothes shop on Brick Lane. It’s been our bit on the side for some time now, and – given our reputation for sharing London’s ‘hidden gems’ as and when they open – keeping this place to ourselves for so long has been hard. But also slightly exciting.
As illicit a dining experience as you can expect to find in London, Back In 5 Minutes’ hidden, candlelit dining room and regularly-changing modern European menu (think smoked salmon & asparagus risotto, New York strip loin with lobster béarnaise and apple & blackberry crumble with Swedish custard) provide the starkest of contrasts to anything else you’ll find on Brick Lane. The ideal date spot, everything about it feels adulterous: from the suspicious clothes shop entrance and the heavy curtains hiding the intimate restaurant, to the candlelit tables and the conspiratorial whisperings of the other diners… many of whom probably actually are having affairs.
But now it’s out in the open, and we have no secrets left.
The burden of guilt has been lifted from our shoulders, Back In 5 Minutes has its rightful place on The Nudge and all that’s left for us to do is apologise for having kept this information from you for so long… by offering you a bottle of wine on the house when you go there for dinner.
Friends?
