West London's Getting A Fancy New Indian Spot

To be clear, the Hotel Dalhousie isn’t a hotel, and it isn’t located in the picturesque Northern Indian town of Dalhousie.

It’s a restaurant in Notting Hill.

Or at least, it will be when it opens this summer. Although it is, at the very least, sounding like it’ll be a lovely place to stay for either breakfast, lunch or dinner. It comes to us from the team at the behind Tandoor Chop House, who’ve joined forces with the brunch-slinging locals at Eggbreak to put the place together.

In fact, you’ll find it on the brunch Mecca that is Westbourne Grove where it’ll join such luminaries as Ottolenghi, Granger & Co and Farmacy… in other words making this particular two-minute stroll the ultimate West London brunch crawl. The space they’re putting together is set to have a two-floor space with “vibrant retro-inspired interiors”, which should go down well too.

In charge of the menu will be chef Kundan Rawat, who has been commanding the kitchen at the Tandoor Chop House since it opened way back in 2016. Here, he’s fixing his eye on Northern India (which is where Dalhousie itself is) and their delicious proclivity for well-spiced, tandoor-roasted dishes. Thus you can expect the likes of-

Galouti Kebab – think juicy, spiced-up lamb patties with a hint of rose water, some chana dal thrown in, all jazzed up with a zesty herb chutney on the side.
Patrani Macchi – sea bass but make it interesting with a slap of coconut, green chillies, coriander, garlic, and mint for that extra kick.
Burra Kebab mutton chops soaked in yoghurt and cream, spiced to perfection, and grilled with a bunch of peppers to keep things punchy.
Ajwaini prawns big ol’ king prawns from the tandoor, spiced with carom seeds, coriander, and cumin.

There’s also going to be a cocktail bar on the ground floor, plus a garden at the rear. So, it may not be a hotel…

…but it’s still got a few suite touches.

NOTE: Hotel Dalhousie is set to open this summer. We’ll be back then with the full scoop. In the meantime, you can keep an eye on their Insta right here.
