Welcome to the most delicious maths problem in Greenwich.
Champagne + Fromage is the third venue in the growing mini-empire of cheese & sparkling slingers, who also have outposts in Brixton and Covent Garden.
This river-adjacent branch sits right at the mouth of Greenwich Market, and has decor that’s just as continental as the other branches thanks to a dapper tile floor and a wall of wine. There are a couple of rustic touches though thanks to French-style white garden chairs, some delicious-looking dangling charcuterie and an unvarnished wooden deli bar.
The food is, you’ll be glad to know, also just as French, allowing you to indulge in duck confit, four types of baked camembert (Truffle? Check. Fig & thyme? Check.), three types of raclette, a wealth of cheese and charcuterie sharing boards and, yes, snails. And for dessert? How about a ‘Tour de France’ sharing board, consisting of a selection of different flavoured macarons, some homemade cheesecake, and a few salted caramel caneles (they’re like little cakes with a caramelised crust).
The champagne half of the equation is equally deep, with dozens of brut, blanc de blanc, blanc de noir, rose, and demi-sec (semi-sweet) on offer, as well as half a dozen by the glass. And it’s all quite reasonably priced, too. Unless that is you want to spring for the vintage stuff, in which case (if you happen to have a spare £160 lying around) you can score their most expensive bottle; a Colin Rosé Premier CRU Millesime made from 100% pinot noir grapes.
For a slightly more anglophil-ed afternoon you could take their Afternoon Tea which comes, predictably, with champagne and tea, but also with a mix of French cheeses and sweet treats to keep it on brand. Sound good?
You do the maths.
