Q Grill | Camden Town
This morning a friend of ours received an email saying that she’d won a once-in-a-lifetime, all expenses paid holiday to America. She excitedly emailed back to request a little more information, only to be told that it was an April Fools’ joke.
Yeah well the joke was on them, because she’s scared of flying so may not have gone anyway. Also – and pointing this out was what ultimately stopped her crying – Q Grill’s just opened up in Camden, bringing the sweet BBQ flavours of a traditional Memphis-style Smokehouse to London and rendering all holidays to the USA completely unnecessary forever.
She bought it.
Taking diners “on a road trip through America’s Deep South”, Q Grill’s interior mixes rough timbers and industrial features with warm lighting, neon and beer taps made out of… hammers.
At the raw bar you’ll find dishes like charred octopus with kimchi, blood orange and capers, seabass ceviche with spicy plantain and moonshine shrimps with chipotle sauce. And from the charcoal pit grill, oven and house smoker choices include squid ”a la plancha” with smoked bacon; ‘Kielbasa’ hotdogs, pit-smoked beef hash with fried duck egg; Tomahawk steaks and whole Josper ribs – all of which are served alongside sides like creamed corn and scrumpy-fried onion rings, and washed down with tankards of Q’s House Punch.
And for dessert? Coke floats, banoffee pie and an “apple and toffee crumble” that’s as American as apple pie…
… only with toffee inside.
And crumbles on top.
NOTE: Q Grill is open now, and taking resevrations by telephone on 020 7267 2678, by email on email@example.com and via its website here.
